My Lord,

RECEIVED

AUG 23 1849

199

Victoria, Honghong,

6th June, 1849.

"I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Lordship's Despatch. 1292 of 24 February last, with its enclosures, relative to a Bill of Costs charged by the Acting Crown Solicitor at Hong Kong in a suit, instituted by the Crown against Captain Larkins, for the illegal conveyance of Letters in his vessel between Hong Kong and Canton.

I caused the Bill of Costs, originally amounting to $458.49, to be taxed by the proper officer of the Courts, who has seen fit to reduce it to $374.49, which being deducted from the amount of the Judgment against Captain Larkins paid to Mr. Parker, leaves $185.51 to

$105,

The Right Honorable, The Earl Grey,

No. Yo.
